‘Susan Boyle paid £8,000 a minute to sing’

The star is set to earn six figure sums from private performances, according to the News of the World

Britain’s Got Talent runner up Susan Boyle is reportedly being paid £8,000 a minute to perform at corporate functions.

The News of the World reports that the I Dreamed A Dream singer was being paid £100,000 to perform for 12 minutes – a sum that translates to £140 pounds a second.

According to the paper, the 48-year-old spinster is still claiming a £130 a week in benefits for living expenses and her home in West Lothian, but now has an agent handling bookings for lucrative private functions.

Meanwhile, the tabloid also reports that ID documents have been prepared for the singer’s cat Pebbles so that the pet can travel with her to the United States.

The paper cited a source at Simon Cowell’s Syco company as saying that the talent judge was "very protective" of the singer and was making arrangements for Boyle’s cat to be by her side.

An unnamed source at Syco told the paper: "Susan is very attached to Pebbles. She missed her when she was in The Priory and couldn’t wait to be reunited with her. Pebbles really is like family to Susan. They are very close.

"Susan is excited about her career and quite excited about going over to America but there is one condition - that Pebbles goes too." ADNFCR-2262-ID-19217785-ADNFCR
