The FTSE 100 began the week in impressive style; ending the day up over half a per cent on the back of impressive trading figures for the mining company Randgold Resources.
At the end of the day the London index stood at 5,092.33, a rise of 31.41 points, or 0.62 per cent
Randgold led the gains on Monday, up 6.32 per cent to 4,475p after announcing its full-year profits had leapt 79 per cent.
Fresnillo and Xstrata also recorded significant gains, up 5.30 per cent and 4.07 per cent respectively.
Legal and General Group led the drops, down 3.67 per cent to 70.95p.
Meanwhile troubled airline British Airways slipped 3.45 per cent to 198.9p and Aggreko also fell 3.33 per cent.
