Northampton winger Sean Lamont has decided to leave Franklins Gardens and join the Scarlets on a three-year-deal.
The 28-year-old was out of contract at Northampton, where he has spent four years, at the end of the season and had been linked with a move to France. But Lamont has decided to ply his trade in Wales.
"I’m thrilled to be joining the Scarlets. They’re building an exciting squad and are based at one of the finest rugby facilities I’ve ever seen," said Lamont.
"There’s great passion for the sport in Wales - especially across the Scarlets’ region - so I can’t wait to get going and join up with a great group of players and such a well-known rugby club with proud traditions.
"I’ve had four good years at Northampton and will be leaving behind a lot of good friends. I thank them for all they’ve done for me but I’m now ready for a fresh start and a new chapter with the Scarlets at this imposing stadium and look forward to making an impact."
Lamont has seen his Northampton career blighted by a serious knee injury, but still managed to score 23 tries in 68 appearances for the Saints. The winger has also won 37 caps for Scotland was named the Scottish player of the year in 2007.
