FTSE 100 continues steady progress

The FTSE 100 continued its steady progress to the week on Tuesday opening up almost half a per cent.

At 09:16 GMT the London index stood at 5,117.51, a rise of 25.18 points, or 0.49 per cent.

One of the strongest performers in early trading was the UK’s second-largest real estate investment trust British Land Co which was up 2.17 per cent to 447.6p.

The impressive performance came on the back of strong third-quarter profits announced today.

Land Securities Group also rose 3.22 per cent, with Royal Bank of Scotland up 3.11 per cent.

Despite a damning report by Amnesty International UK over alleged unethical practices in India, Vedanta Resources’ shares price was up 0.43 per cent this morning, to 2,337p.

Randgold Resources witnessed the biggest drops in the first hour of trading morning, falling 2.21 per cent.

National Grid also slipped 1.43 per cent to 620p.ADNFCR-2262-ID-19604371-ADNFCR
