Ten-man Manchester City came from behind three times to salvage a 3-3 draw at Bolton.
City could consider themselves unlucky to go behind after 13 minutes, as Bolton goal scorer Ivan Klasnic seemed to be in an offside position.
The home side might have had a penalty a little later, Micah Richards arguably handling the ball in his own penalty area.
But there was no doubt about City’s equaliser, Craig Bellamy providing the assist which allowed Carlos Tevez to score from outside the penalty box just before the half-hour mark, the third game in a row that the Argentinean has found the net.
Blues boss Mark Hughes will have been disappointed to see Shaun Wright Phillips hobble off with an ankle injury after 22 minutes and will have been even more dismayed to see Bolton’s England hopeful Gary Cahill curl a superb shot past Shay Given just before half time.
It was a goal which a centre forward, let alone a central defender, would have been proud of.
There was only time for a few touches of the ball before the half-time whistle, but that’s all it took for City to level again after the impressive Craig Bellamy set up Micah Richards.
Bolton took the lead for the third time early in the second half after Klasnic scored his second goal with a hooked volley following a Paul Robinson cross.
Desperation crept into City’s game as they attempted a third comeback. Debutant Sylvinho was lucky to be only shown a yellow card after he committed a professional foul as the last line of defence just outside his penalty area.
At the other end of the pitch Bellamy was also shown a yellow card for diving and as it was his second yellow of the game it ended his involvement in the match.
Luckily for City, Tevez was still on the pitch; the South American ignored heavy traffic in the Bolton penalty area to fire his second goal of the game ten minutes from time.
The visitors could have taken all three points had Robinho not shot just wide and should have had one if Joleon Lescott had shown more composure in front of an open goal.
